Bike Day Date: August 13th
We will have a table set up at the Green Market on Grand Army Plaza on Saturday, August 13th.

Table: Information on Rules, Regulation and Safety, as well as Bike Maps will be available. Helmets and trinkets will be available for the constituents and pedestrians, bikers, and community.

Welcome, Introduction to the Project
• In order to better understand and reach out to bicyclists in our area, Team Tish is speaking to bicyclists on the streets. The goal of this project is to commence with a discussion and forum for bike enthusiasts from pedestrians, to cyclists, to community members.
• The survey comprises five simple questions. Just to be clear, this survey is qualitative and not quantitative.
1. What is your favorite lane or street to ride on? What about this area (Bed Stuy, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights,Vinegar Hill) appeals to you as a cyclist?
The majority expressed Fulton Street as a favorite lane. Some also mentioned Vanderbilt as an interesting and safe place to ride up and down Prospect Heights.
2. Is there a time you feel unsafe while biking? If so, what do you think contributes to possible dangers while biking?
Most commuters mentioned that a nighttime return commute from Manhattan to Prospect Heights felt a little more congested.
3. In this area, do cyclists and drivers follow traffic regulation? If not, then do you feel that there can be a mutual understanding between cyclists and drivers in terms of traffic regulation?
Cyclists expressed a real desire to work with pedestrians and drivers for the future.
4. Is there frequent congestion in traffic in one particular area when you bike? If so, what factors contribute to this?
Atlantic Avenue, because of the traffic congestion and the drivers returning from Manhattan, most constituent cyclists expressed as a street to avoid.
5. Have you run into any significant potholes that you want to report?
The purpose of this survey is to have a Bike Day 2011. We will partner with local bike shops, Transportation Alternatives, and others, to promote safe awareness among the community of bicyclists, pedestrians, and drivers.
